Marco Descalzo Kaleidoscopic, daring and addictive, is not easy at first but after the second listen you'll find out this is a must have if you like bands like Gorillaz, Massive Attack or LCD Soundsystem. The tracks "While You Were Sleeping", "Shooting Up Jesus", "Never Enough" and "It's Over" are remarkable, "When The Lights Go Out" is impressive. Favorite track: Never Enough.

about

About ten years ago seeped in the dark paranoia of the post 9/11 war years I teamed up with my producer, James Perry (Seputus Black) to make an experimental electro-blues album. At times vulgar, pretty, profound, dark, moody, loud and often very political this something very different than my folky roots music. Constructed from samples, loops... often borrowing instruments left in the studio by other bands... sometimes borrowing the musicians too... this is a wildly varied record... sometimes straight up rock... other times akin to trip hop... other times psychedelic.

about

J.P. Whipple Portland, Oregon

J. P. Whipple is a barefoot vagabond whose errant rambles have taken him through the Great American West picking up songs along the side of the highways, in the mountain forests, the rivers, canyons and down broken alleyways. He grows them in small notebooks and when they mature he translates them through banjo, Dobro or accordion and then brings them to audiences throughout the US and Europe. ... more
